Working As A Freelancer
If you're interested in working as a freelance writer, researcher or designer for web sites, there are a number of sites where you can sign up and offer your services.
Some of the more popular ones are:
You can do a search for freelance or freelance writers (whatever your specialty) on Google to find the rest.
Writers, you'll notice that the writing fees are quite low $5-$15 per article but keep in mind that it's US dollars so you actually receive $12.90-$19.35 in Australian dollars.

If a webmaster really likes your work, he may use you exclusively for all of his future projects. If you get 2-3 major webmasters who do this, you can basically create a full-time occupation as a writer (if that's what you want). You can also negotiate a better fee.
When you first offer your services on one of these sites, you most likely won't have a track record as a freelancer, especially with this kind of service. So your fees will start at the lower end of the scale. As you gather some positive feedback, you can raise them.
We can help you with feedback if you do a project for us. You should also gather any other testimonials you've received about your work and make them available on your personal web site or as a text document.
What about other skills?
This information also applies if you are a freelance webmaster, graphic designer, researcher, database specialist, etc. The Internet is hungry for reliable professionals who can take some of the load off overworked webmasters and web designers.
So explore these sites and get a feel for how they work. Then, if the idea appeals, sign up and get your feet wet. This may be the start of a new career.
